It is estimated that 75,000 patients were diagnosed in 2015 with bladder cancer with more than 15,000 deaths. Men are at higher risk than women. According to the recent American Cancer Society statistics, men have an 1 in 26 chance of bladder cancer compared to 1in 86 for women. The median age of diagnosis is 73yo with 90% of cases being over 55yo. Caucasians have double the risk of developing bladder cancer compared to African Americans while the disease is less common among Hispanics, Asians and Native Americans.
